Miromico IC is an innovative high-tech company focussing on design services for high-speed analog/mixed-signal integrated circuits in advanced CMOS technologies. We love to solve technical challenges in tight cooperation with our customers, supporting them through all design phases, from early concept to final layout, validation and product bring-up. We are flexible to adapt to our customers needs, providing efficient high-quality design services.
History
Miromico was founded in 2002 as spin-off of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. The three co-founders — who are reflected in the company name — are all electronics engineers focussed on mixed-signal IC design. While originally targeting the development of miniaturised electronic devices for biomedical applications, Miromico soon expanded to engineering services in the areas of analog/mixed-signal integrated circuit design and electronic systems. The engineering team has been growing constantly in response to the demand by many long-term customers.
The focus of the IC design group slowly shifted from general analog/mixed-signal circuits to high-speed full-custom analog/mixed-signal design in advanced CMOS/FinFET technologies. Over the last decade, the projects mainly involved high-speed serial link designs and very-high-speed data converters.
In 2020, the two groups of Miromico — integrated circuits and electronic systems — were split into separate companies by spinning off the IC design group into Miromico IC AG. Both companies are still privately held by two of the co-founders and active members of the board.
Team
Our team consists of 20+ highly specialised analog/mixed-signal IC design engineers with a vast experience in high-speed full-custom circuit design in advanced CMOS technologies. Around one third of the team have a PhD, the others a Master of Science in electronics engineering. The team involves alumni of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and Lausanne, as well as other renowned European (Technical) Universities.
Our engineers love to solve challenging technical problems, from initial concepts and architectures, through detailed design and verification, full-custom layout and silicon validation. The team is experienced in working with international teams and clients in different environments. We have a long background in working with and supporting “industry standard” full-custom design flows and tools, with specific in-house methodology and add-ons for best efficiency.
Management
Miromico IC is managed by two of the original co-founders, Michael Rüegg and Robert Reutemann. Both Michael and Robert are alumni of ETH Zurich, where they got introduced to the fun of full-custom analog/mixed-signal IC design around 25 years ago.
